HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!!

October 8, 1939, in Ft. Wayne Indiana a beautiful little girl was born to two very happy parents. If you think the weather is bad now, Grandma said that it was warm the day she went into the hospital to have mom and it was snowing when she left the hospital with mom. Of course they had longer stays in the hospitals back then. She grew up to be a very classy looking woman and has always been. She not only has the look, she has style, personality, and the attitude.
more to come...
And here it is:
I wanted to add that she has been my biggest supporter, the best example of a Christlike person, and my greatest friend. I love her sooo much and wish I could do so much more for her, to give back to her all that she has given to me. I really hope that she feels all the love that everyone has for her on this her special day. I also hope it will be a start of a great year for her.
Millie has few things to say also: grrrrr, arrrffffff, translation: I really love my grandma and I am sending all kinds of kisses.......
I love you Mom, always!!!!!

I am very grateful to have them in my life. I have learned a lot from them both, and I love them both a lot. I want to tell them both thankyou for everything, and I love you, I hope you had a great anniversary!!!!
Millie also says grrrrr, she loves you both soooo much, you have no idea how much it means to me to see the interaction between you two and her...she loves you tooo!!!!

Happy Birthday to Millie

Millie was born 4 years ago today to Fluffy and Ramsey. She had a rough start, you see from her picture she has a deformed right front leg and she couldn't get to the mother's teets, and when she was helped to them she couldn't get any milk from them. After a week of trying this method and seeing that she gained no weight, I offered to take her home and feed her from puppy formula. I just really wanted to do something for this family and for Millie. She gained 3oz in one week and really thrived from then on. There is much more to the story, and if you would like to hear anymore of it I'll be happy to tell you, it is just too long a story to post. What I can tell you is that she chose me and has been a blessing in my life, she saved me and is still saving me everyday. I love her soooo much, and I am thankful for her.

For her special day she got to go to her favorite places, where she got to recieve her favorite treats. Care to guess what her favorite treat is? Being petted of course. She had so much love shown her today. I wish that would be all it would take to have a good birthday, just being held and loved. How simple life is for Millie, and how nice too!

Here she is with two of her favorite people when she was 5mths old....
I forgot how tiny she was.

How do we honor Memorial Day?

I wanted to observe Memorial Day properly. Last year I posted a list of those within my family that have served in the armed forces. None of them lost their lives, but they gave up a significant amount of their time to serve their country. Something I find very amazing and am very grateful for their service and sacrifices. First I would like to post a few things on how we can honor this day appropriately...
Ways To Observe Memorial Day
Memorial Day reminds us of our duties towards the wounded soldiers and the bereaved families, orphans and widows of the dead soldiers. We should honor the dead by adorning their sacred remains with flowers and garlands and show our gratitude towards them in the following ways:
Adorning the graves of the soldiers with flags or flowers.
Visiting cemeteries and memorials.
Furling the American Flag at half-mast until noon.
Furling the 'POW/MIA Flag'.
Keep silence for a minute at 3 p.m., 'National Moment of Remembrance' and listen to Taps being played.
Take a pledge to aid the disabled veterans, widows, widowers and orphans of the dead and keep it.
You may support the efforts to restore the traditional day of observance of Memorial Day back to May 30th.
Offering thanks to the veterans and appreciating the ultimate sacrifices of the soldiers to the bereaved families personally may help too.

One of the ways I will observe the day is to post this. Here is a poem to help us on this day as well:

Freedom is not free

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Service man saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

I hope you all have a wonderful and peaceful Memorial Day....

Not to make light of this occasion but Millie wanted to show her support also, by wearing a patriotic bow in her hair.

Happy Mother's Day

Mom with the Grandkid's and great grandkid's...

Mom and best friend Pat

I wanted to dedicate a post to my Mom for a day that is all about mothers. I saw a video put out by our church and thought it expressed a lot of the words I would use to describe my Mom. I tried to add the video to my blog and never could get it added, so I am putting the link here so that you can follow it. Enjoy the video...http://www.youtube.com/mormonmessages
I hope my Mom has a good day and knows how much I love her. Thankyou Mom for all you do for me and have done. I love you lots and lots....always and forever!!!!
Just a note of correction, if you can see the dates on the pictures, they are wrong, when I had taken them back in 2007 I had failed to reenter the correct date on my camera.

Worn out puppy

Millie and I got to enjoy a great cookout with the Coleman's. Well Millie really got to have fun, the kids ran with her, petted her and she really loved it. When we got home she was so exhausted and fell down asleep by the chair by the front door then a little bit later she moved to her little bed and conked out even more so. Here are a couple of pictures to demonstrate it:

Sunshine on my shoulders....

Makes me happy...

I love John Denver's music, so did my family and I feel like this song is pretty pertinent to this day...

Just wanted to share how happy I was that it was sunshiney today....and to share this song with you, though I can't sing it, and one of these days I'll figure out how to put the music to the song here for you to hear and enjoy...
so y0u can read it a a poem.....enjoy and I hope you got to enjoy the sunshine and it's warmth today!
Sunshine On My Shoulders...John Denver
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
If I had a day that I could give you
Id give to you a day just like today
If I had a song that I could sing for you
Id sing a song to make you feel this way
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
If I had a tale that I could tell you
Id tell a tale sure to make you smile
If I had a wish that I could wish for you
Id make a wish for sunshine all the while
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
Sunshine almost all the time makes me high
Sunshine almost always...

Train Rides

I thought I'd answer the question about the train ride in a post. It took me a little while to remember it and I only remember bits and pieces, it happening sooo long ago you know. Well it was sometime after 1974, I was a teenager then for those of you who might have just been born, he he he. We lived in Troy Ohio at the time, boarded the train from Lima Ohio and went to Chicago. I remember riding the El train, (elevated train), taking pictures of the Sears Tower from the floor, we also went up in it. I remember we also went outside of tall building and learning that one of my brothers was afraid of heights. I don't know how long we stayed in Chicago, but the one night we stayed I do remember we ordered pizza and they delivered it with anchovies on it. We don't like them of course. I think we also went to a museum, not sure though which one. I can't seem to remember anymore of the trip, but this was a nice way to jog my memory and it was nice to remember.

Snow Day

We got 15 inches of snow today...that was enough. I wanted to take Millie's picture on the patio by the snow and boy did she want to climb in it. When she did she couldn't move and looked up at to help her out. They have shoveled us out and we are going to take a walk, she really is loving the snow. I wish I could say the same. It is pretty and that is all I can say about it. I hope everyone else had as much fun in the snow as we did today.

Church At Last...

Today was great, we were finally able to go to Church. Because of the weather the last two Sunday's church was cancelled, and might have been this Sunday because of a water pipe bursting and causing a major amount of damage in the building. Thankfully things were cleaned up enough so that we could go back to church today. The biggest problem for most was the smell, the kids in primary kept holding their noses, it was rather comical. I enjoyed getting to be with my primary class and I really enjoyed sacrament meeting. I was so grateful to be at church today and the I could really feel the spirit. It was also good to see everyone. Today was a good day...

Midnight run

Good evening or Good morning depending on how you look at it...

First I would like to say sorry for not posting for soooo long. I actually didn't think I had anything interesting to post. But as I have been looking around the blogging world I have seen several different things that one could talk about and maybe even discuss if others wanted to add to the discussion. So I will try to begin again to be a better blogger.

Well the first topic as you might well guess is a midnight walk with Millie. About three hours ago Millie went to the door and buried her face in the space between the door and the door frame. So I thought we would just step out and get some fresh air. She ran out to the street, thankfully no one is out at this time and started to just sprint from one end of the parking area to the other and then did a few hops in the snow. She always surprises me with her bursts of energy. We were only out for 10 minutes I think, but it was worth it just to see her having fun.

I have to tell you that she inspires me sometimes. She lives in the moment, and she holds no grudges, she loves everyone no matter what they look like or what they may say or do. I have often wished I was more like her. I bring this up because something my mom gave me, it was in the paper and listed things that we could learn from our pets, in particular our dogs. It was written by my favorite dog whisperer, Cesear Milan. I will say there is one other important thing that Millie does that I need to learn from. She has no fear. She does seem to know she has limitations, she never has tried to jump off anything. But she always figures out a way to move forward.

I am little long winded sorry, but I wanted to share with you what I have learned from my most faithful and loyal friend. I have decided to not just try but to live in the moment and move forward with my life. Come what may. Well hopefully it won't take me as long to post again...and hopefully I'll have some interesting things to share with you.

Till we meet again....goodnight!!!!
